My Mother’s Kitchen – A Book Review

My Mother’s Kitchen – A Book Review

My Mother’s Kitchen: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and the Meaning of Life by Peter Gethers

Since Maralyn Hill and I have co-authored and published two culinary books about chefs around the world, we know what it takes to write a heart warming culinary book.

Peter Gethers

My Mother’s Kitchen is more than a cookbook. Best selling author, Peter Gethers, shares recipes for breakfasts, lunch, dinner…and the meaning of life. The family stories, told with humor and passion, are what makes his words a joy to savor.

I feasted on every word and recipe in Peter’s love letter to his mother. His writing style kept me reading his book in one sitting, with a chuckle and tear in my eye.

Peter’s memories are atribute to his mother, Judy Gethers, the author of seven cookbooks. He features all of her favorite recipes that celebrate food and family life.

Praised by the New York Times, Julia Child, and Wolfgang Puck, I highly recommend this book to food lovers and those of us who knew New York back in the day.

Judy Gethers was the daughter of a legendary New York restauranteur, at the well-known Ratner’s. I can still taste those onion rolls.
Later she was known as the mother of La Maison in LA, a mentor to many. Judith became a chef at the age of 53. This book proves that it is never too late to live your bliss.

If you love food, family history, humor, and good writing, you will enjoy My Mother’s Kitchen.
