Success Tip for H. Jackson Brown

“When you find a job that is ideal, take it, regardless of the pay.” H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

I once took a significant pay cut to leave a job I did not enjoy, to put it mildly, in a big factory. I left it for a career I loved, and still do, for a small national magazine.

The immediate, short term result was less pay and a very disgruntled husband. The long term benefit was a good promotion to editor, more pay, and a contract with a generous advance, to write a book for Random House publication, plus royalties.

More importantly, a new life in New York City with lasting friendships.

This opportunity paved the path for three more published books written in tandem with Maralyn Hill.
