Think Outside the Box 2

Monday, July 28th, 2008

It’s that time again… time to stretch your mind. When you look at this photo, what comes to mind. At first, I saw a wholly glass that reminded me of the holes in Swiss cheese. But, I knew that wasn’t the answer. Is the answer coming to you? I hope so. Think of a glass of:—– —-.

The photos I’m using the next few weeks are from Worth 1000. If you visit the Worth 1000 site, their photography is wonderful.

If any of you have creative puzzles or mind stretchers you think would be appropriate, please send them on and we’ll include what we can and certainly give you credit.

Whole milk is the answer. Did you guess?

Author April Smith’s Tip on Writing

Monday, July 28th, 2008

While at Rancho La Puerta, I picked up a tip from visiting lecturer April Smith.

April, who studied at the creative writing program at Stanford University has published l9 books and won many awards, such as PEN/Faulkner and The O’Henry Prize Stories.” I encourage you to read her online bio.

April advises writers to “Write something every day.” She explains that to be a successful writer, we must read and write. “Writing is not a hobby, or a past time, it is long hard work.”

The Hill team agrees!

Think Outside the Box 1

Monday, July 21st, 2008

In our book, $uccess, Your Path to a Successful Book, we encourage using your creativity. And, if you think you’re not creative, work at developing it. Once a week (I hope), I plan to have a little teaser to help you stretch your imagination.

The photos I’m going to use the next few weeks are from Worth 1000. My cousin Lois sent me a lot of these and they are terrific. If you visit the Worth 1000 site, their photography is wonderful.

Look at the photo on the right and think what it might represent. Hint, some type of a plant.

Can you guess. I hope so. If not the answer is…Dandy Lions – dandelion, the yellow weed.

Another challenge in a week. Have a good one.
